HISTORY
Dean's father, Patrick Thomas, was a wizard, one aligned with the Order of the Phoenix during the first war. Of course he never told his wife this fact because he thought he was protecting her. He also never introduced his wife to any of his wizard friends or let them know where he lived. When he was killed by Death Eaters there was no way to let the widow know and so Areva Thomas was left to assume that her husband had walked out on her.

Dean was raised by his muggle mother alone until he was five and she secured a divorce from the state. She remarried soon after and Gerald Stoneham became Dean's step father. It was a surprise to the muggle couple when their son, an avid football fan and already talented artist, was accepted to a school for wizards.

Dean spent his entire Hogwarts career not knowing the truth. It wasn't until after going on the run with Ted Tonks and Dirk Creswell that Ted connected the dots between Patrick Thomas and the young man (who looked more like his mother than his father.

Ted and Dirk were killed and Dean barely lived to make it to the battle of Hogwarts. Dean never finished school. Instead he took a few art classes as a London University before taking off to travel France and Italy and learn about art. He wanted to take classes all over the world and see the classic paintings he had only seen in text books. He wanted to get away from the war-torn wizarding world of England.

Dean has recently returned to try to make it as an artist in London and to be closer to his family (and his little sister, who was born during the war, Keisha).
